Who: Everyone!
What: A Halloween Party!
Where: The ballroom of Koriko’s hotel
When: October 31st, all evening.

Happy Halloween, workers of Koriko! You’re getting a night off, one that’s apparently mandatory as pretty much all of the other venues on the island have closed up early with the spirits running them urging the workers to enjoy the night off.

It’s pretty hard to miss the party, there are lights and decorations leading to the hotel and into the largest available ballroom, which has in turn been decked out in appropriately spooky lighting and fog. Snacks have been provided, as usual, and the fare is mostly sweets, as should be expected from an event such as this one.

As the workers enter, they’ll be checked over to make sure their costumes are suitable for the evening - as long as you have one with a mask, you’re all set! If you find yourself lacking, an appropriately fitting costume will be provided for you. The thing is, once you’re inside and surrounded by masked faces and fog, you seem to find yourself unable to recognize people easily. It isn’t really a matter of their voices or appearances changing, but a simple haziness present when trying to confirm someone’s identity on your own.

But, hey, masks are for hiding who you are, right? So that should be expected.

One thing to note, though, are the ease at which names are remembered. Not just names that you’ve become familiar with on the island, the names that the Witch has given you, but your own real name. On top of that, there might be some unusual visitors popping up, considering this time of year is when barriers between the spirit world and the real one are at their thinnest. Best to keep your eyes peeled, and get busy mingling!

In summary:
- It’s a Halloween party!
- Costumes (specifically masks) are mandatory, but will be supplied to those who don’t have them.
- Mingle with your fellow workers, and maybe some unusual visitors, too.
- Enjoy your night, the morning will surely bring a new adventure.
- And a most important note: Characters who have previously spent time in Koriko are allowed to attend the ball, as a final hurrah for the game. No need to join the coms once more, simply post in the log at your leisure!

Who: All of you!
What: Time for fish!
Where: The docks/the open waters surrounding Koriko.
When: October 25th, morning through mid-afternoon.

Up and at ‘em, Koriko! All of the workers are being gathered up early and shuffled off to the docks for an all hands on deck situation.

It’s time for you to go fishing.

It sounds like an easy enough task, honestly, but the problems here are that 1) You’re trying to get a lot of fish, I mean a lot of fish, to help supplement the island’s food supply, and 2) there are a lot of dangerous things lurking in those waters… A third potential problem being that how many of you even know how to fish anyway? Well, that’s why you’ll be encouraged to go out on the larger boats with the well established fishermen that already help supply the island, though should you be interested, there are smaller boats that can be taken out on the waters for a little more personal work.

Regardless of your choice in heading out with a group or not, you’re encouraged to at least take off in pairs, just in case something happens. Nets, buckets, poles, and bait are all available, and everyone’s fitted with a life jacket. Safety’s important, after all!

Once you’re out on the water, well… the best way to catch something is to be patient and quiet, right? A little small talk between you and your fishing partner(s) can’t hurt, just make sure you’re paying attention to what you’re doing! Should you accidentally reel in, say, a stray amabie, or end up with a sachihoko in your net, you might want to be cautious about letting them go.

In summary:
- Time for fish!
- Beware of fearsome yokai lurking in the waters.
- Don’t fall in the water, either, it’s cold out!
- Try to keep yourself from getting too bored out on the water. There’s going to be a lot of waiting in silence involved here.

Who: Frau (Niko) and Open
What: Decorating... ish.
Where: Across the island
When: Throughout the day

Given Halloween is coming up, Niko has decided the island needs to be decorated! Or, rather, he's using the holiday as an excuse to alleviate his boredom. He's stolen all of the extra toilet paper rolls out of the employee's quarters (hope none of you find out the previous person in that stall used the last of the roll because there aren't any extras! Sorry!) and is busy flying around on his hawkzile draping the toilet paper over trees, buildings, and oblivious workers who don't realize he's there. Oh, come on! You know you always wanted to be a mummy!

Who: The workers and some esteemed guests!
What:A moon viewing party.
Where: The gardens.
When: September 28th, at night.

A rather large group of lunar rabbits has descended upon Koriko for the evening.

It’s honestly a pretty unusual situation they have going for this night, as rather than having the viewing during a full moon, the moon is currently half-full. Maybe that’s just when they could get the time to vacation, who knows? Regardless, the Witch has accommodated their request for a quiet party in the evening, taking up the island’s expansive garden and setting up seating and light snacks at the approval of the garden’s head honcho.

The workers are invited to attend, of course! Or, it’s more like, the workers are asked (coerced) to come and help out, and enjoy the night in their spare time. Put on your nicest outfit (or the other spirits supervising will provide for you) and drum up your best customer service skills, because while the rabbits are pleasant enough customers to work for individually, they are demanding, and they are numerous. Also, in order to have the best view of the night sky, there is no additional lighting provided for the evening, all you have to work on is the light provided by the moon and the stars. So romantic! Don’t step on any of the customers!!

Keep their snacks coming, their cups full, and their mood up! The party’s over when dawn breaks and they have to return home, but workers who have been especially diligent with them will be left a nice tip; freshly made mochi wrapped and tagged with the worker’s name, left on their futons for them to find. It’s absolutely delicious, and just a bite of it reinvigorates the eater’s energy as much as a full night’s rest would. That should come in handy after a full night of working, and probably an expected day full of working afterward as well.

In summary:
- Check out that sweet sweet moon.
- Tend to the demands of the rabbit visitors in between sweet moon checkings.
- Do try and get some of your own downtime in, though. It is a party, after all!
- Don’t fall asleep on shift, though, that would be so unprofessional...

Who: All of you!
What: A fun and safe trek into the forest to do some weird and kind of abstract request.
Where: The forest, close to where the native spirits live.
When: September 4th, early morning to evening.

So, this is a pretty odd request.

The island of Koriko is home to several spirits, spirits who live here year round and have established their presence long before this place became a hopping tourist destination. They mostly really, really don’t like the traffic, and are kind of cold or cruel toward the Witch and her workers in general, but one of them has come forth with task she thinks the Witch’s workforce can handle for her - collecting the green off the leaves of the trees surrounding her home.

All right.

The spirit shows herself to the workers as a small and extraordinarily old woman, and once the group of willing (“Willing”) participants has assembled, she guides them slowly through the forest. Don’t worry, it’s a ridiculously dangerous place under normal circumstances, but with her as your guide, you’re totally safe from the hungry fauna and flora of the island. Her home is nestled nicely among a thick gathering of trees, and once there, she passes out ropes, buckets, and gloves to the workers.

The idea here is that you’ll work in pairs or teams, with one person or more running ground support and helping their partners get up the trees safely with the ropes provided. The daring participants who want to go upward will take the gloves and bucket with them to do the collecting! The gloves are thin, but sturdy, and enchanted to soak up the green color from whatever they touch, while holding them over the buckets provided causes the color to drip back off them and into the containers. With the green gone, the leaves will show their brilliant orange, red, and yellow hues, creating a lovely fall atmosphere in an isolated part of the forest. How neat!

Toward the end of the day, the spirit who put in the request will deliver refreshments out to the workers. Tea, cookies, and the like, all dyed green with the byproduct of your hard work. How… neat?

In summary:
- Climb trees, get greens.
- It’s a long way up, try not to fall!
- Actually, having someone on medical standby might be a good idea...
- Magic gloves will absorb the green from whatever they touch, including clothes or hair, so, uh, be careful with that, too.

Who: All the workers.
What: Time yet again for a housing shake-up!
Where: The employee quarters.
When: August 27th, just after midnight.

The number of workers on the island has, very obviously, shrank. With the Witch’s work force dwindling down in numbers, it sure does seem like a silly idea to have them all spread out on different floors of the employee housing, doesn’t it? The rooms are meant to hold many people in order to help everyone form a closer bond, or something to that effect, and surely there’s a better way to capitalize on the space available.

As such, in the wee hours of the morning, everyone gets moved around. Everyone. There have been some changes in the method of moving the workers around from the last time something like this occurred. Anyone who was currently sharing a room will find that they’re still being roomed with the same person/people! Score! You may have to deal with a new addition or two, but that’s easier than getting used to a whole new group entirely. Secondly, those who were around for the shake-up in October will remember that they could put in requests to Asuka, the tengu manager in charge of the hotel and worker housing, in order to switch their assignments around to something more favorable. This time it appears she is having no part in moving things around yet again, what you get is what you’re stuck with. Lastly, your things have not come with you. Everyone’s names have been moved to different plaques, but your belongings have been left behind in your previous rooms. So, you probably want to go get those.

To expand on that last point, strangely enough, once the rooms on the upper floors have been cleared of personal items, the doors to those rooms shut on their own, and are unable to be opened up again. Likewise, after personal items and employees have evacuated the third and fourth floors, the stairs leading up past the second floor appear to seal themselves off when no one’s looking.

Huh.

In summary:
- New rooming assignments!
- Get cozy with your fellow workers.
- Go find your stuff before someone else takes it all.
- Previous room listings have been left up on the housing page for easy reference, they will be adjusted to show the new assignments within a couple of days.

Who: All of you! And some vacationing spirits too!
What: A Summer Gala, to honor the hottest months.
Where: The ballroom of Koriko’s hotel.
When: August 4th, afternoon through the evening.

As some of you may have come to figure out in your time on the island, the Witch is very fond of throwing lavish parties. It’s been a little while since the last one, and even longer since the last fancy party, so what better excuse to hold a ball then ‘it’s Summer, why not?’

You, of course, are invited! Encouraged strongly to attend, even! Formal attire is mandatory, but if you don’t have anything appropriate, the hotel workers are more than prepared to provide something in a size that fits you. Their closets and wardrobes are vast, so you’re sure to end up with something you’ll like. Probably.

The ballroom of Koriko’s hotel has been transformed for the enjoyment of the attendees, tables and walls adorned with sashes and decorations in various shades of green and gold, emulating the feel of a forest in the summer (without facing the threat of mosquitos, thankfully). Gentle music can be heard playing throughout the room, and while there’s a stage area with instruments available on it, there are no musicians present and the music doesn’t sound like it’s coming from them, though any debtor who wants to go up and give the instruments a spin will find the ambient music harmonizing with their efforts. As the sun sets, the room becomes illuminated by floating spheres of light in various sizes that are scattered across the vast space of the ballroom, creating a relaxing and enchanting atmosphere.

Food and drink are also provided free of charge to attendees! For this party in particular, alcohol is unavailable (unless you sneak it in yourself), and the assortment of refreshments available range from familiar, to unusual, to really, really weird, but considering the ball is open to both the workers and spirits, that weird gray stuff on the table is bound to be to someone’s palate. Maybe it’s actually really good? You should try it!

Speaking of the spirits attending, the ball itself turned out to be a huge draw for faeries. They’re mostly staying out of sight, or at least act like they’re trying to, but are fairly hard to miss as they flit around the room. The lot of them are up for causing mischief, and debtors who have a run-in with them may find themselves acting oddly, misstepping and briefly moving without intention, as if their bodies are having flashes of misbehavior. How very weird. The faeries are also spending an awful lot of time hanging out by the food without actually eating any of it…

Maybe don’t try that weird gray stuff after all.

- Have fun, dance, and mingle!
- Enjoy some free food!
- Try and dodge those pesky faeries who are pretty much just here to cause a ruckus.
- It’s a free evening off of work, though, so you might as well enjoy it!

Who: Koriko’s hardest workers, and esteemed guests!
What: The fourth wall has been obliterated.
Where: All over the island!
When: July 14th through the 16th.

The Witch is somewhat desperate for guests and to keep tourism on the island thriving. So desperate, in fact, that she came to people from outside her own world with a different offer than her usual.

”Would you like a one-time chance to visit a fantastic resort island? I’ll even throw in free transportation, and you’ll be back before you know it!”

For some, she added, ”Your friend ____ is working here, and if you came to visit, some of your purchases would go towards paying off their debt. I’m sure they’d appreciate seeing you.”

For whatever reason, the visitors chose to come to Koriko for the weekend. They’re treated as guests like anyone else, with full run of the island (though the spirits in the deeper parts of the forest and the residential area are still likely to be unhappy if disturbed).

Take a tour around the scenic vistas of Koriko! Enjoy a fabulous bath with your own personal attendant, shop for goods you can’t find anywhere else in the market, try out new and exciting foods in the many restaurants available. Relax on the beach or in the hot springs. There’s a hundred fantastic ways to spend your money on this resort!

Please, please spend some money.

- This is the fourth wall weekend mingle!
- We would like top-level comments to be from characters outside the game. Characters inside the game or other visiting characters can reply to them.
- Everything that happens during fourth wall weekend counts toward game canon.
- For more information on the event, see this post.

Who: Koriko’s most athletically capable (and everyone else)
What: Sports!! And more!!!
Where: The beach, and the area surrounding it.
When: July 4th, early afternoon to mid-evening.

Through the morning, there’s a lot of hubbub at the beach. Various spirits setting things up, clearing things out, bringing in seating, making a suitable setting for… some kind of event! Keen observers might be able to make it out pretty easily, at least. Roped off sections, flat terrains, nets, it’s all the fixings for a total athletic event! Oh boy! Who’s going to compete?

It’s you. Of course it’s you.

As it turns out, there’s a huge turnout for this day! Many of the spirits are raring to see some good spirited competition, and many of them have taken to placing bets based on who they think are the most fit among the workers. With so much energy and activity riding on this, the Witch clearly expects great things out of all of you! On top of that, competitors will be treated to snacks and water for the duration of the event, and anyone who does exceptionally well might find themselves with a little extra reward in the form of tips from generous spectators. If they’re profiting off of your successes, they might as well throw a little of it your way, right?

In summary:
- A test of strength! Do your best!
- If you aren’t athletically inclined, you can always form a cheer squad, or hold the timer and start guns?
- Feel free to pair off or square off to your best discretion!
- If there are any events you want to play out that aren’t listed, feel free to make your own top-level!

Who: Everyone!
What: Time to dress up and pose for the camera!!
Where: Koriko’s modeling agency, particularly photogenic debtors may be moved to other locations on the island for extra photos (at the player’s discretion!)
When: June 20th, all day!

Hey! Did you know there’s a modeling agency on the island? They mostly do promotional work for the bigger establishments on the island, but any posters or fliers you may have seen around with photos of people (human or otherwise) are likely from them. Well, a few months back, the modeling agency lost its favorite model, and there’s been a dip in production as they’ve tried to find some new talent.

So, guess what that means! Of course, it means that you’re volunteering. Whether or not you actually want to volunteer. The agency’s employees have gotten permission to round up debtors on the island over the course of the day as means of scouting out some new talent.

Everyone will be given an equal chance at showing off their skills for the camera, whether or not they want to! Debtors may also find themselves in shoots with other debtors, as well as being requested to stay dolled-up in the hallways between shoots. Debtors who are a little less human, or at least less human-looking, may find themselves getting a bit of special attention with clothes and makeup that accentuates their non-human features.

Other than that, it doesn’t seem like the workers at the agency are being too picky about who wears what. Cozy and trendy outfits are in the wardrobes, as well as more antiquated fare, extravagantly fancy clothing, racy get-ups, comical looking costumes, and everything inbetween. Really, anything you could imagine to wear is available, so you may as well have some fun with it!

In summary:
- Dress up, be gorgeous!
- Or be awkward, but you might as well give it a shot either way?
- Some of these outfits are a little weird though?
- Maybe you’ll find a new career path out of this, who knows!

There's the radio and the cabinet of board games in the lounge, same as usual. Dinner is rice, seaweed soup, and some bizarrely misshapen takoyaki. The heatwave has passed, and the sun is low in the sky . . . it's a warm, but not uncomfortable, summer evening. Just another ordinary day on Koriko.

Who: Everyone.
What: It’s unreasonably hot all of a sudden??
Where: Everywhere.
When: June 1st-4th.

In the wake of the storm that took the island by surprise, there are plenty of messes to clean up. Luckily, the Witch (typically) maintains control over the weather on the island, so that means some measure can be taken to help dry things up a little bit, allowing work to be funneled elsewhere in the recovery efforts! Unfortunately that means cranking the heat up by about a lot, but drastic times call for drastic measures, right?

Heating up the island will certainly dry up all that water, but not before it hangs around in the air and creates a miserably humid state, though. Not all of the guests are really game for that, so many of the workers will find themselves with some unusual requests to help the visitors cool off. Better grab some fans, maybe a spray bottle full of ice water or something like that… get creative! Make sure the tourists are comfortable enough to keep going out and spending their time (money) well!

On the other hand, there are a few notable guests who are here for the upped temperatures. A flock of phoenixes have decided to make a stop at Koriko for a few days. Things are still a little soggy, but as the days draw on and more of the excess water is purged from the island, they pose something of a fire hazard. Any fires they accidentally start aren’t going to be huge, but they definitely should be dealt with immediately. It’s already too damn hot! Sure is a good thing you’ve already armed yourselves with water to cool down! Time to use it for the greater good!

In summary:
- Don’t get heat stroke.
- More importantly, don’t let the customers get heat stroke.
- Don’t let anything catch fire, either.
- Remember how the employee lodging doesn’t have air conditioning? Yeah.

THERE'S A STORM ROLLING OVERHEAD

what: a storm has hit koriko, and now it's up to you to push it back!
where: all around the island.
when: may 28th.

It's the end of May and the chill of spring has mostly left Koriko. Now, the transition to summer is about to come but before that, of course, it's the rainy period. Something tells you (or not), that the storm today feels a little different in particular. Well, that's because it is, and it comes with some friends. Koriko will be engulfed with the darkest of the sky, and the wettest of the weather. Every water environment has gone untamable ー violently roaring, rolling, and hitting the lands. At certain areas, floods might have begun to start. You may encounter animals trying to make their way to hiding, spirits and wildlife alike seek shelter. Above all, the aquatic spirits has it the worst as it has evoked panic within them, causing them to act aggressively in their fury.

The source of all this? One lanky cat has angered the god of sea and storm, BANGPUTYS, for 'playing' with the gift of life.
